PRE-MONSOON DESILTING WORKS BEGIN IN VERLA CANCA PANCHAYAT TO PREVENT WATERLOGGING
Verla Canca: With the monsoon season approaching, pre-monsoon desilting works of nullahs and gutters have officially commenced across Verla Canca Panchayat. The exercise aims to ensure proper drainage, maintain cleanliness, and prevent waterlogging in low-lying areas of the village during heavy rains.
Panchayat officials said the timely desilting will help clear accumulated silt, garbage, and debris from stormwater drains to facilitate smooth water flow. The works are being taken up on priority to safeguard residents and reduce monsoon-related hardships.“These efforts will help maintain hygiene and prevent flooding in vulnerable pockets of Verla Canca.
We appeal to residents to avoid dumping waste in drains and work together for a cleaner, safer panchayat,” said Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo .
The desilting drive covers key nullahs and internal gutters across all wards. Machinery and laborers have been deployed to complete the work before the onset of heavy showers.
Residents have welcomed the initiative, noting that clogged drains have been a major cause of waterlogging in previous monsoons.
