HOTMIXING WORK BEGINS AT MAPUSA BUS STAND TO EASE TRAFFIC, IMPROVE ROADS

Mapusa: Hotmixing work is underway at the Mapusa Bus Stand as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade road infrastructure and ensure smoother traffic movement in one of North Goa’s busiest transit hubs.

The work is being carried out to improve road conditions and provide safer, more convenient travel for daily commuters, intercity passengers, and the public. Officials said the resurfacing will address potholes and uneven patches that have slowed buses and caused congestion, especially during peak hours and monsoon.

“The Mapusa Bus Stand sees heavy footfall and vehicular traffic every day. Hotmixing will help reduce wear and tear on vehicles and ensure better road safety,” said Mapusa MLA Joshua Dsouza overseeing the project.

The bus stand serves as a key node for intra-state and inter-state routes, connecting Mapusa to Panaji, Calangute, Pernem, and neighbouring Maharashtra. Poor road surface had been a long-pending grievance of bus operators and passengers.The current phase of work is expected to be completed in a time-bound manner to minimize disruption.

Traffic diversions and alternate bays are being used to maintain bus operations during the upgrade. Residents and shopkeepers in the vicinity have welcomed the move, noting that better roads will cut travel time and improve pedestrian safety around the busy market area.
