37 Donated Blood at SS Dempo College Blood Donation Camp Organised by Manipal Hospital Goa on Doctors’ Day
Panaji, July 2: Marking the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, Manipal Hospital Goa, in collaboration with the Blood Bank, organised a Blood Donation Camp at the auditorium of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics (Autonomous) on Monday. The initiative was held in association with the Rotary Club of Dona Paula, Rotaract Club of S.S. Dempo College, the college’s National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, Red Ribbon Club, and other institutional partners.
The camp witnessed an encouraging response from the student community, with 35 students voluntarily donating blood, reaffirming their commitment towards saving lives and supporting the healthcare system.
The initiative was organised under the theme “Be a Hero – Donate Blood, Save Lives”, highlighting the importance of voluntary blood donation and creating awareness about the continuous need for safe blood to support patients requiring emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatment and other life-saving medical procedures.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dhaval Fadadu from Manipal Hospital Goa thanked the students, faculty members and partner organisations for their enthusiastic participation. “Doctors dedicate their lives to saving others every day. On Doctors’ Day, there is no better tribute than encouraging voluntary blood donation, a simple act that has the power to save multiple lives. We are grateful to every donor who stepped forward for this noble cause,” the spokesperson said.
The organisers also appreciated the support extended by the management of S.S. Dempo College, the Rotary Club of Dona Paula, the Rotaract Club, the NSS Unit, the Red Ribbon Club, and all volunteers who ensured the smooth conduct of the camp.
The blood collected during the drive will help strengthen the blood bank reserves and support patients in need across Goa. The organisers reiterated the importance of regular voluntary blood donation and encouraged more citizens, especially young people, to become regular blood donors.
