Coal mine gas explosion in China kills 82
BEIJING: (May 23) Eighty-two people were killed in a gas explosion in a coal mine in China, according to an official media report.
The gas explosion occurred at the Liushenyu coal mine at 7:29 pm on Friday. Rescue efforts are ongoing.
The death toll rose to 82 following a coal mine accident in Qinyuan County, north China’s Shanxi Province, state-run Xinhua news agency reported, adding that nine others are still trapped underground.
