HOTMIXING, REPAIR WORKS START ON CABLE-DAMAGED ROADS AT MAPUSA MARKET, KTC BUS STAND
MAPUSA: Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza on Monday commenced hotmixing and improvement works on roads in the Market Yard and KTC Bus Stand areas that were damaged by the Electricity Department during the laying of underground cables.The road reinstatement works have been undertaken with the aim of restoring road quality and ensuring smooth and safe traffic movement for citizens and commuters in the busy commercial area.Present at the commencement were MMC Chairperson Priya Mishal, Councillor Sainath Raul, BJP Mapusa Mandal President Shri Yogesh Khedekar, MMA President Shripad Sawant, Former Mapusa Sub Yard Chairman and current Sub Yard Trader Amey Natekar, along with MMA members, shopkeepers and the contractor.
Speaking on the occasion, officials said the hotmixing and repair works were taken up on priority after repeated complaints from citizens and traders about potholes and uneven surfaces caused by cable-laying works. The damaged stretches had been causing traffic congestion and inconvenience, especially near the Market Yard and KTC Bus Stand which see heavy vehicular and pedestrian movement daily.
The MLA said the improvement works will be completed at the earliest to provide relief to residents, traders and daily commuters. The project includes proper reinstatement and hotmixing of the affected road stretches to restore them to standard condition.Shopkeepers and market associations present welcomed the commencement of works, stating that better road infrastructure was crucial for business and public safety in the Mapusa market area.
