Mankuraad’s Rs 8000-a-Dozen Splourge”
PANJIM: There are three types of mangoes available in the markets all over the state but selling at a very high rates like earlier.
Mancuraad or Malkuraad mangies selling at a very high price in the Panaji municipal market and there are people who keep eyes on the first fruit arrivals and go for at any available costs.Since Panaji municipal market place is frequently visited by the rich and business community. The Mankuraad mangoes are being sold for Rs 8000 a dozen but good quality and mega sized.
If you visit in the morning you will find many sellers of Mankuraad mangoes as well as there are people selling fruits also selling Totaluri mangoes coming from Karnataka and Neelam mangoes from Ratnagiri and also some people are selling Ratnagiri Alfonso mangoes.
The rates of Totapuri is just Rs 250 a kg and you get only 2-3 big ones pieces while Neelam mangoes are also sold for Rs 250 to Rs 300 a kg depending upon the prevaing market rates and you get only 4-5 pieces depending upon the size and weight.
