“Fish Market Failing: Health Dept. Slams Mapusa Council, Threatens to Pull Plug on Services”
Mapusa: The Directorate of Health Services, Government of Goa, has issued a stark warning to the Mapusa Municipal Council, stating that the water and electricity supply to the Mapusa Fish Market Complex will be disconnected if the council fails to address the alarming public health concerns.

According to a notice issued by the Urban Health Centre, Mapusa, the council has been given seven days to take adequate measures to abate the health nuisance at the fish market. Despite earlier communications, the council has failed to act, prompting the Health Department to take drastic action.
The notice, issued under Section 40(4-A) (i) of the Goa Public Health Act, 1985, and the Goa Public Health Rules, 1987, holds the Mapusa Municipal Council responsible for maintaining hygiene and preventing health hazards at the public facility. The Health Department warns that continued inaction could pose serious risks to public health.
