” CM Vows to Crack Down on Crime After Recent High-Profile Robberies”
Panaji, Goa – Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a high-level meeting with top police officials on Wednesday night to review the state’s law and order situation following the Baina dacoity and St Cruz burglary.

Sawant has issued strict instructions to intensify night patrolling, set up nakabandis at key points, and conduct random checks to prevent further incidents. “We took a review and instructed police that such things should not happen or be repeated. Detection must be high and crimes must not be repeated,” Sawant said.
The meeting, attended by DGP Alok Kumar, the IGP, all SPs, DySPs, and PIs, focused on boosting enforcement, stepping up visible policing, and fast-tracking investigations. Sawant indicated that the government may consider invoking the National Security Act (NSA) “if required” to curb rising criminal activity.
The St Cruz burglary, where thieves escaped with ₹25 lakh in cash and gold, is still under investigation. Sawant expressed confidence that the Baina and St Cruz cases will be cracked soon.
The meeting also discussed long-term strategies, including additional personnel deployment and measures to reduce road accidents through stricter enforcement. The police department has been directed to take proactive measures to ensure citizen safety and security.
