Mapusa: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee strongly condemns the irresponsible and derogatory remarks made by Gautam Khattar against the media fraternity in Goa. Such sweeping statements questioning the decorum and ethics of Goan journalists are not only baseless but also deeply insulting to a community that has consistently upheld the values of truth, accountability, and public service, stated Amarnath Panjikar, Chairman, Media Department, GPCC.
“The media in Goa has always played a crucial role in strengthening democracy by fearlessly reporting facts and raising issues that matter to the people,” Mr. Panjikar said.
He further added, “It is highly unfortunate that instead of addressing concerns highlighted by the media, efforts are being made to malign and discredit them. This reflects a dangerous attitude that undermines democratic institutions.”
The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee demands that Gautam Khattar immediately withdraw his statement and issue an unconditional apology to the media fraternity of Goa.
Reiterating the party’s stand, Mr. Panjikar stated that the Congress Party firmly stands with the journalists of Goa and remains committed to protecting and upholding the dignity, independence, and freedom of the press.
