Panaji: Creativity met cause as the Department of Oncology, Goa Medical College, Bambolim marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026 with a poster competition, by artist Soma Ramnath Sinari  as his work stood out for its powerful message.

The competition invited artists and students to create original artwork focused on breast cancer awareness, early detection and hope. Entries brought varied styles and perspectives, but one poster was widely appreciated for its clarity, emotional depth and ability to connect with a common audience.

Dr. Anupama Borkar, Head of Department, Oncology, GMC Bambolim, appreciated the artist’s work and personally chose the poster as the best entry to create public awareness. She praised the artist for translating a sensitive health issue into a visual that is both moving and easy to understand.

Recognizing the impact of the artwork, the department has now displayed the winning poster at the Oncology OPD, Super Speciality Block, GMC. The display is drawing attention from patients, families and visitors, turning the waiting area into a space of learning and encouragement.

The appreciation shown to the artist highlights how art can play a vital role in public health, making awareness more human, memorable and effective.
