After BL Santosh’s opposition to increasing Griha Adhar to Rs 3000 a month, AAP Women’s Wing today took a delegation to CM Sawant asking for the BJP Govt’s Official Stance on increasing Griha Adhar to INR 3000 without terms and conditions. The delegation also highlighted that no less than a BJP Woman MLA had asked for the same after seeing Kejriwal’s Guarantee & was shouted at by BL Santosh and asked to leave the party. The delegation was led by Goa Women’s Wing President Mamata Maben, South Goa Women’s Wing President Patricia Fernandes, North Goa Women’s Wing Vice President Ratishma Shirodkar & AAP Women’s Wing Leader Matilda D’Silva.
Goa Women’s Wing President Mamata Maben stated that even BJP’s women MLA’s have realised that the Kejriwal’s Guarantee for INR 3000 to every woman without any conditions is the need of the hour. It is shocking that when one of the BJP’s woman MLAs had made this demand to increase Griha Adhar scheme to Rs. 3,000, in a high-level meeting. BJP’s national General Secretary B L Santosh told her to leave the party if she sticks to her opinion. The delegation also asked for whether CM agreed with the official stance on the condemnable incident.
Ratishma Shirodkar stated that that due to inflation it has become difficult for women to run their households. Besides the rising cost of daily essentials, the high costs of electricity and water bills, medical expenses, school costs, petrol, LPG etc has placed a huge burden on families who are already struggling due to unemployment and low incomes. She added that it is about time that Griha Adhar not only be increased to INR 3000 but to have all terms and conditions removed so that every woman in Goa can be eligible.
Patricia Fernandes stated that every day AAP is meeting Goans across the state, the inadequate amount of Griha Adhar is top on the minds of women, as its faulty implementation. In our booth level meetings when we ask women whether they have received payments barely 1 in 10 state that they have. Does this Govt even care for the women of Goa? AAP Leader Matilda D’Silva demanded to know whether BJP thinks prices also stagnated just like Griha Adhar payments. She added that BJP should learn from AAP govts how to actually serve people. The AAP Womens Wing concluded by demanding that CM Sawant not take Goa’s women for granted or try to fool them with fake promises and clarify his stance.
