Akhil Goa Gramin Patrakar Sangh Demands Immediate Arrest in Journalist Saiprasad Kubade Attack Case
Anjuna:The Akhil Goa Gramin Patrakar Sangh has submitted a formal representation to the Anjuna Police Inspector, demanding a thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged attack and attempted assault on journalist Saiprasad Kubade, along with the immediate arrest of those found responsible.
In its representation dated October 12, 2026, the association strongly condemned the incident and urged the police to take the complaint seriously and initiate strict legal action against the accused in accordance with the law.
The association has called for the collection and preservation of all relevant evidence, including CCTV footage and eyewitness statements, and requested that the complainant’s statement be recorded promptly. It has also urged the police to ensure the safety of the journalist and witnesses and prevent any threats, intimidation or attempts to obstruct the investigation.
Emphasising the importance of a free and independent press in a democracy, the association stated that attacks on journalists pose a serious threat to press freedom and their ability to perform professional duties without fear or pressure.
The representation was signed by association President Uday R. Sawant and Secretary B. D. Mote. Copies were also forwarded to Goa Chief Minister and Home Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and the Superintendent of Police, North Goa, seeking their intervention.
The association has urged the officials to ensure a fair investigation and take appropriate legal action against those found guilty, while strengthening measures to protect journalists from similar incidents in the future.
