Bengal beats Goa by Seven Wickets in Vinoo Mankad Trophy
Chandigarh: Goa suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Bengal in a Group C match of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Elite Under-19 tournament on Monday, despite posting a competitive total of 254 for eight in 50 overs. The match was played at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16
After winning the toss, Bengal elected to bowl and restricted Goa to 254 for eight. Bengal then chased down the target comfortably, reaching 255 for three in 46 overs.
Wicketkeeper Vishesh Behl, promoted to open, gave Goa a brisk start with 28 off 16 balls, including four fours and a six. However, the dismissals of key batters Aradhya Goyal (0) and Afrid Rajakkanavar (0) left Goa struggling at 64 for four.
Adeep Miskin steadied the innings with a patient 43 off 66 balls, hitting five fours. He added 77 runs for the fifth wicket with Atharva Kumar Gupta, who top-scored with 78 off an innings featuring nine fours. Mihir Kudalkar provided a late boost, smashing an unbeaten 48 off 35 balls, with four fours and three sixes, to take Goa past the 250-run mark. Bengal’s Hriddhi Nag Chowdhury and Aneesh Rathi each took three wickets.
Bengal lost two wickets for 63 runs during the chase but recovered through a match-winning 185-run partnership between Atmaja Mondal and Sudhanshu Pandey. Mondal scored 95, while Pandey remained unbeaten on 101 to guide Bengal to victory with four overs to spare.
Chigurupati Venkata, Shamik Kamat and Aaradhya Goyal took one wicket each for Goa.
