From Stalls to Modern Hub: Siolim Fish Market Set for Transformation
SIOLIM: The daily hustle of Siolim Fish Market is set to get a major upgrade.Foundation stone for the upgradation of Siolim Fish Market, Bardez, was laid on Friday, marking a crucial step towards providing better infrastructure for Goa’s fishing community and local traders.The ceremony was held in the presence of Siolim MLA delilah lobo Calangute MLA and GSIDC Chairman Michael Lobo, Siolim Sarpanch Manorama M. Govekar, Deputy Sarpanch Shri Sandesh D. Hadfadkar, Panch Members and members of the Siolim Merchant Association.


The project aims to transform the existing market into a more hygienic, organized and trader-friendly space with improved facilities for both sellers and buyers. Speaking on the occasion, Siolim MLA said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening grassroots infrastructure and supporting traditional livelihoods
.For the fisherfolk who bring the morning catch and the merchants who have sold there for decades, the new market promises better sheds, drainage, and a cleaner shopping experience for locals. The work signals a push towards a more developed and progressive Siolim.
