Goa records 31.7 pc rainfall deficit during 2026 monsoon: IMD
PANAJI: (Sep 30) Goa recorded a 31.7 per cent rain deficit during the southwest monsoon, with nearly 952 mm less rain than normal, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The state received an area-weighted average rainfall of 2,055.4 mm between June 1 and September 30, against the normal rainfall of 3,007.8 mm, resulting in a seasonal deficit of 31.7 per cent, the IMD’s Meteorological Centre, Goa, said in a report issued on Wednesday.
Rainfall remained below normal in all four months of the monsoon season, with June recording a 34.6 per cent deficit, July 33.4 per cent, August 20 per cent and September 44 per cent, respectively. September witnessed the highest monthly rainfall deficiency during the season, it said.
