Dharbandora Marks New Chapter in Rural Development with Panchayat Infrastructure Push
New Panchayat Buildings and Community Facilities to Expand Public Infrastructure Across the Dharbandora Constituency
Panaji, September 30, 2026: Advancing grassroots development in Dharbandora, a series of Panchayat-level infrastructure initiatives were undertaken across Sancordem, Collem-Sigao and Kirlapal-Dabal, with Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant laying foundation stones and inaugurating new public facilities. The initiatives focus on strengthening Panchayat infrastructure, expanding community facilities and improving access to public services across the constituency.


Strengthening local governance at Sancordem, the foundation stone was laid for reconstruction of the existing Village Panchayat building under the Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) Scheme, 2013. The facility will accommodate a Canara Bank branch and residential quarters under Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa, while the newly developed 200-capacity Panchayat Hall was also inaugurated. Dr. Sawant congratulated the Panchayat members for utilising ₹50 lakh towards its development and urged proper maintenance of the hall. He also announced the commencement of BSNL underground cabling to address network connectivity concerns.
Expanding development opportunities at Collem-Sigao, the foundation stone was laid for the new Village Panchayat Building and Community Hall under the Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) Scheme, 2013. The project has an awarded cost of ₹4.28 crore. Dr. Sawant highlighted the upcoming Primary Health Centre expected to commence in November, improved facilities for Dudhsagar tourism and the role of the National Forensic Sciences University and proposed university in Dharbandora in creating opportunities for the region.
Taking development closer to communities at Kirlapal-Dabal, the new Village Panchayat Building was inaugurated, providing upgraded administrative and community infrastructure. The programme also featured the Vachanpurti Melava for women under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, with a focus on government initiatives including the Ujjwala Yojana and EDC loans for women. Dr. Sawant highlighted development works undertaken in Sanvordem and the importance of creating opportunities for the coming generation.
The programmes were attended by Dr. Ganesh Chandru Gaonkar, Hon’ble Speaker, Goa Legislative Assembly and MLA, Sanvordem Constituency; Shri Mauvin Godinho, Hon’ble Minister for Panchayats, Rural Development, Transport and Protocol; along with Zilla Parishad representatives, Panchayat members, Sarpanchs, GSIDC officials and other dignitaries.
