Wang, Rubio hold telephone talks ahead of Xi-Trump summit meet in Washington

BEIJING: (Sep 18) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held telephone talks on Thursday ahead of President Xi Jinping’s expected visit to Washington for a summit meeting with his US counterpart Donald Trump next week.

The two sides conducted in-depth discussions focused on high-level exchanges between China and the US, an official press release here said, without mentioning the forthcoming summit meeting between Xi and Trump.

According to reports from the US, the summit between the two Presidents is scheduled to take place on September 24. There has been no mention of dates so far by Beijing.
