Mapusa Marks 80th Independence Day with Flag Hoisting and Parade Led by Minister Khaunte
Mapusa: Mapusa marked the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour as Minister for Tourism Rohan Khaunte hoisted the National Flag at a state-level function held in the town on Friday.
The ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the Tricolour to the tunes of the National Anthem, followed by Minister Khaunte inspecting the Police Guard of Honour. Contingents of police, NCC cadets, and school students presented a ceremonial parade, drawing applause from the gathering.
Addressing citizens, officials, and students present at the event, Khaunte paid rich tributes to freedom fighters and martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. He emphasized the significance of 80 years of Independence and called upon every citizen to uphold the values of unity, discipline, and service.“
As we celebrate 8 decades of freedom, it is our collective responsibility to contribute towards building a developed, self-reliant, and inclusive India. Goa, with its rich heritage and tourism strength, will continue to play a key role in the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047,” the Minister said.
Khaunte also highlighted the government’s focus on sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment in North Goa. He urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the past and work towards progress, peace, and prosperity. The event witnessed the presence of local MLAs, government officials, dignitaries, and a large number of citizens. The celebrations concluded with patriotic songs and cultural performances by school children, showcasing Goa’s heritage and national pride.The atmosphere in Mapusa resonated with slogans of “Jai Hind” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as the town joined the nation in commemorating this historic milestone
