CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Hoists Tricolour, Inspects Guard of Honour at 80th Independence Day Celebrations in Panaji
PANAJI: Goa celebrated the 80th Independence Day with grandeur as Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant hoisted the National Flag and addressed the gathering at the State-Level function held at the Old Secretariat, Panaji on Friday.


The ceremony began with the unfurling of the Tricolour to the strains of the National Anthem, followed by Dr. Sawant inspecting the ceremonial Guard of Honour presented by contingents of Goa Police, NCC, NSS, and school students. In his address to citizens, ministers, officials, and students, the Chief Minister paid homage to freedom fighters and martyrs whose sacrifices secured the nation’s independence. He underlined the significance of 80 years of freedom and called for renewed commitment to national unity, integrity, and development. The function was attended by cabinet ministers, MLAs, senior government officials, dignitaries, and a large gathering of citizens. The program concluded with felicitation of meritorious students, government employees, and achievers for their outstanding contributions to the state.
The Old Secretariat echoed with slogans of “Jai Hind” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as Panaji joined the nation in commemorating this historic milestone.
