Calangute Congress demands crackdown on illegal spas, massage parlours, dance bars & late-night activities
Calangute, 12 August 2026: Acting on concerns raised by Vivek D’Silva, Spokesperson, GPCC, at a press conference held at the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee office on 15 July 2026 regarding the alleged operation of illegal spas, massage parlours and dance bars, the Calangute Block Congress Committee today submitted a memorandum to the Calangute Police Inspector demanding immediate action.
The memorandum was submitted by Calangute Block Congress Committee President Lourenco Silveira, along with members of the Block Congress Committee and Vivek D’Silva.
The Committee raised serious concerns over establishments allegedly operating late into the night beyond the hours permitted under Panchayat rules and conditions without valid permissions, and demanded strict verification and action against violations.
Calangute cannot become a haven for illegal activities. The authorities cannot continue with the cycle of complaint, raid, closure and reopening. We demand permanent enforcement and accountability.”Vivek D’Silva said:“
“The people of Calangute are demanding action. The authorities must conduct regular inspections and ensure that establishments violating permissions or operating beyond permitted hours are dealt with strictly.” Lourenco Silveira, President of the Calangute Block Congress Committee, said:
The Congress has demanded complete verification of spas, massage parlours and dance bars, strict enforcement of permitted operating hours, late-night inspections and action against touting, tourist exploitation, drugs, trafficking and other unlawful activities wherever established.
The Committee has also demanded an Action Taken Report within seven days and stated that failure to take effective action will result in the matter being escalated to senior police authorities and concerned Government departments.
