DITE&C collaborates with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals for ‘Green Goa, Clean Goa’ Mission; Plants 700 Saplings at EMC, Tuem
Pernem, July 16, 2026: Aligning with the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s ‘Green Goa, Clean Goa’ mission, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), in collaboration with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd., commenced the first phase of their green initiative at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Tuem today. This initial phase focuses on planting 400 saplings, with an overall target of 700 saplings in the next phase.
The plantation drive took place in the presence of Shri. Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director, DITE&C; Shri. Praveen Volvotkar, MD, InfoTech Corporation of Goa Limited; Shri. Subrai Nadkarni, Chief Engineer, InfoTech Corporation of Goa Limited; Dr. Milind Sakhardande, Joint Director, DITE&C; along with Shri. Sachin Sharma, HR Head and Shri. Yogesh Redkar, EHS Head and Shri. Arindam Mitra, Finance Head from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals.
Speaking about the initiative, Shri. Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director, DITE&C, emphasised the need for sustainable development. He said, “Today, we are conducting a significant plantation drive at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Tuem, planting 400 saplings of various native species. We deeply appreciate the collaborative effort from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, who have come forward to support this green drive as part of their CSR commitment. This initiative directly carries forward our Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision of a ‘Green Goa, Clean Goa.’ As we scale the state’s technology footprint, the Department of ITE&C remains fully committed to ensuring that industrial progress and ecological balance go hand in hand, creating a truly sustainable environment around our industrial hubs.”
Commending the joint effort for this green drive, Shri. Abhijit Nikam, Deputy Director (Admin), noted, “Our core belief is centered around sustainable development ensuring that industrial progress actively protects our environment. We are incredibly grateful to Glenmark Pharmaceuticals for their valuable corporate support and sponsorship in helping us work toward our 700-tree target. During the drive, officials and staff members planted saplings of badam, neem, gulmohar and other varieties pledging to ensure their regular care and long-term protection.
The Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) remains central to Goa’s vision of attracting high-tech companies, creating quality jobs and strengthening the state’s industrial footprint. By integrating this collaborative green initiative directly into the cluster, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) has taken another significant step toward successfully balancing technological expansion with environmental conservation.
