CALANGUTE: Sim Boys (Arpora) booked their place in the Santamaria Cup 2.0 Final with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Almedia Bouquenchi United (Parra) in Semi Final 2 at Poriat Ground on Tuesday.The Arpora outfit,saw their defensive wall breached when Parra’s Soham found the back of the net. But Sim Boys showed championship mentality, hitting back with two clinical finishes from Veron and Murphy to seal the win. Both sides started cautiously, playing a compact 4-4-2. Parra tried to build from the back with short passing triangles, while Sim Boys sat in a low block and looked to hit on the counter. Chances were scarce as midfielders Elroy and Clifford for Parra, and Pallav for Sim Boys, broke up play with tactical fouls, earning early yellow cards.The deadlock was broken when Parra carved open Sim’s defense. Soham latched onto a through ball, took a touch past the keeper and slotted home to end Sim Boys’ clean sheet run.
