Aryan Nehra rewrites Best Indian Time, qualifies for CWG

Aryan Nehra shattered his own 1500m freestyle ‘Best Indian Time’ to secure qualification for the Commonwealth Games, while teenage sensation Dhinidhi Desinghu also set a new record at the National Aquatics Championships here on Thursday.

Nehra clocked 15:14.88 to take the home the gold and better his previous Best Indian Time of 15:29.76, set in Hyderabad in 2023. The performance, however, left the Gujarat swimmer agonisingly short of the Asian Games qualifying standard of 15:14.27.

Karnataka’s Dharshan S (15:38.00) claimed the silver medal, while Delhi’s Kushagra Rawat (15:41.66) took bronze.
