MLA Kedar Naik Launches Hotmixing Work on Key Saligao–Parra Road to Boost Connectivity
Saligao: The long-awaited hotmixing work of the Saligao–Parra road, a vital stretch for daily commuters and residents, commenced on Thursday .The road is a crucial link connecting Saligao village to Parra and the arterial Chogm Road, used by hundreds of motorists, two-wheeler riders, and school buses each day.
Locals have repeatedly raised concerns over potholes and uneven surfaces, especially during monsoon, which posed safety risks and increased travel time.
The commencement ceremony was attended by Saligao MLA Kedar Naik Sarpanch Lucas Remedios, Deputy Sarpanch Utkarsha Kudnekar, Panch members Geeta Rane and Anil Parulekar.
Also present were BJP Mahila Morcha President Neha Kerkar, North Goa District BJP Secretary Shri Ramesh Ghadi, BJP Saligao Mandal General Secretary Shri Deepak Rane, along with local residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Kedar Naik said the hotmixing work was sanctioned following consistent follow-ups with the PWD and would greatly improve riding quality and safety. “This stretch is used by residents, tourists heading to Parra’s scenic fields, and commuters from adjoining villages. A proper road was a basic need,” he said.
Sarpanch Lucas Remedious welcomed the move, noting that the upgraded road will reduce vehicle wear-and-tear and cut commute time to Mapusa and Calangute. The work is expected to be completed before peak monsoon, subject to weather conditions.
