CM Dr Pramod SAWANT ATTENDS PMEGP NEXT AT SANKHALI, CALLS FOR YOUTH TO TAP UDYOG SANGAM OPPORTUNITIES
SANKHALI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday attended the PMEGP Next: Exploring New Opportunities under Udyog Sangam programme organised by the Department of Industries, Trade and Commerce (DITC), Government of Goa, at Sankhali.The event aimed to create awareness about the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme and showcase new avenues for entrepreneurship, self-employment, and micro-enterprise development under the Udyog Sangam initiative.
Addressing entrepreneurs, beneficiaries, and officials, CM Sawant said PMEGP has been a key driver in promoting local enterprise and generating employment in the state. “Goa’s youth must come forward to take advantage of these schemes. From food processing to services, there are opportunities in every sector,” he said.
He added that Udyog Sangam seeks to bring banks, government departments, and aspiring entrepreneurs onto a common platform to simplify access to credit, subsidies, and technical guidance.
The Chief Minister urged banks to expedite loan approvals for PMEGP applicants and assured full state support for viable proposals.Officials from DITC, Khadi and Village Industries Board, and lead banks briefed participants on revised PMEGP guidelines, enhanced subsidy limits, and handholding support for new units. Success stories of PMEGP beneficiaries from Goa were also presented during the session.
The programme saw participation from self-help groups, ITI graduates, and first-generation entrepreneurs from Bicholim, Sattari, and nearby talukas.
PMEGP is a central sector scheme implemented by the Ministry of MSME to assist in setting up new micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector. Udyog Sangam is Goa’s outreach platform to link schemes with potential entrepreneurs at the grassroots.
