9-day summer football camp by PACT Foundation kicks off at Moira
MOIRA: A nine-day summer football camp, organised by Kick Off Football Schools in collaboration with PACT Foundation and supported by A.A. de Moira Club, commenced at Moira on Friday.
The camp has been sponsored by PACT Foundation and is free for children. The intensive camp, running from May 1 to 10, is a special sports education and empowerment initiative for the children from Aldona Constituency.Present at the inaugural event were Guest of Honour Anisha Fernandes, Benefactor, PACT Foundation; Oscar Lobo, President, AA de Moira Club; Marc Cordeiro, Member, AA de Moira Club; Shriya Shetgaunkar, dietician at Manipal Hospital Goa; Andrea Fernandes, Founder, Kick Off Football Schools and Jonas Fernandes, Head Coach, Kick Off Football Schools.
In her address, Anisha Fernandes said that football is a part of Goa’s culture and communities and is worth protecting.
“This camp is very important to us. PACT Foundation is built on a very simple idea that every child deserves a fair shot no matter where you come from, no matter your background. Your future should be defined by your effort, your passion and your opportunities, and that’s exactly what this camp is about,” she said.
Stating that football has always been a huge part of Goa, Anisha Fernandes told the camp attendees, “It’s in our culture, our communities and our stories. And it’s something worth protecting and passing on to all of you. That’s why this camp is completely free, because talent should never be limited by circumstance. Every single one of you deserves to be here.” “You are going to learn how to play football, how to pass, defend, and score those amazing goals. But more importantly, you are going to learn how to show up every single day; you are going to learn discipline, teamwork and resilience because waking up early, pushing yourself and supporting your teammates is what really shapes you, not just into better players but into stronger, more confident people, and that is the real goal,” she added.
Lobo thanked the sponsors PACT Foundation for organising this event to nurture and to promote the love for football.
“We would like you to make it a point to attend regularly so that you get maximum benefit from these sessions, but most of all we want you to enjoy yourself playing the game,” he said.
Shriya Shetgaunkar, an experienced clinical nutrition expert with special interest in sports nutrition, lifestyle and wellness management, later held a session where she shared valuable tips on how proper food choices can help children grow stronger, healthier and perform better in sport.
PACT Foundation was established with a clear mission to create lasting social impact through education, youth empowerment, and community development. Founded by Dr Ashwin Fernandes, the foundation reflects a deep commitment to giving back to Goa and ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to opportunities that help them grow and succeed.
At the heart of PACT is a strong vision for Goa — a state where schools become centres of excellence, young people are empowered with knowledge and skills, and communities progress together with dignity and purpose. Through initiatives like the Happy School Project, scholarships, and grassroots partnerships, PACT aims to build a brighter and more inclusive future for Goa.
