Maundy Thursday, commemorating Lord Jesus Christ’s Last Supper, was observed in the state with religious solemnity.
Panaji, April 2 — Churches across Goa marked Maundy Thursday with foot-washing ceremonies and Eucharistic liturgies that opened the Easter Tridum.

At St. Alex Church, Calangute, 12 Men resembling the disciples of lord Jesus chirst took part in the washing of the feet, a ritual devotees called “a truly meaningful experience” and a direct echo of Lord Jesus Christ’s command to serve with humility.
The observance recalls the night before Lord Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross , when at the Last Supper he washed his disciples’ feet and told them, “I have set you an example; you also should do as I have done”.
Christians believe he also instituted the Eucharist that evening, breaking bread and sharing the cup as his body and blood , and affirmed the priesthood of service. Churches across Goa kept this threefold emphasis — institution, priesthood, and humble service at the heart of Maunday Thursday Mass.
