MOG Sunday: Talk on how Gated Villas, Second Homes and Premium Housing are Impacting Goa’s Villages

Pilerne  March 2026: The Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, will host Exclusive Living and the Transformation of Goa’s Villages, a talk by architect and researcher Evanthika Pereira, on Sunday, March 22, examining the changing landscape of Goa’s peri-urban regions.

As part of the MOG Sunday series, the session examines how gated villas, second homes and premium housing are reshaping Goan villages, replacing shared land use and community ties with enclosed developments and private infrastructure. Drawing on a study of Socorro village from the late 1990s to 2025, the talk traces shifts in land use, mobility and spatial relationships, raising questions on exclusivity, access and how planning can address emerging social divides.

Trained at the Goa College of Architecture, Evanthika Pereira works on architectural restoration, heritage documentation and peri-urban research in Goa. A former national president and current Advisor to NASA India, her work connects conservation, community and sustainable development.
