World’s biggest Harry Potter flagship to open of London’s Oxford Street

Hogwarts is heading to Oxford Street. In another boost for London’s key shopping thoroughfare, the world’s biggest flagship Harry Potter store is to open there this autumn, adding to a smaller sister store near King’s Cross.
The Warner Bros franchise plans to open a 21,000 sq ft, two-storey “wizarding emporium”. Dedicated to celebrating the locations featured in JK Rowling’s bestselling novels/movies, it will feature exclusive merchandise alongside interactive experiences with photo opportunities. Merch includes clothing and accessories.

Karl Durrant, WB’s senior vice -president of Worldwide Retail said: “Harry Potter is deeply rooted in British storytelling, and this will give fans an exciting new way to experience this magical world in the city that features so prominently in the stories. Offering a completely new retail experience for Harry Potter fans which will delight and entertain, it’s going to be very special.”

The site, between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road and close to the Next flagship store marks another vote of confidence in Oxford Street’s ongoing transformation with major retail names having opened stores there in recent times.

Another boost will be the part pedestrianisation of the street as soon as this summer, where vehicles will be prohibited from accessing a 0.7-mile stretch between Oxford Circus and Marble Arch, giving the shopping hotspot an additional makeover.
