Coastal Calamity: Calangute Forum Alleges Massive Deforestation of Beachside Vegetation
Candolim, Goa – A swathe of green has been shaved off the scenic beachside landscape in Candolim, as allegations emerge of a large-scale vegetation clearance at Kingfisher Villa, a luxury property on the prime sea-facing side. The Calangute Forum, a vocal environmental watchdog, is up in arms, claiming the cuts, done sans permits, are a devastating blow to the fragile coastal ecosystem.
The Forum alleges that the villa’s owners are prioritizing luxury over sustainability, sparking fears of environmental neglect. “This isn’t just about a few trees; it’s about the bigger picture of environmental neglect,” said Forum president Premanand Divkar.
