Aldona, November 22, 2025: A potentially catastrophic fire was averted in Aldona on saturday evening when firefighters from Mapusa, led by fearless leader Shri Suraj Shetgaonkar, swiftly extinguished a blaze that erupted in a dry grass patch near the Primary Health Center (PHC) at 16:02 hrs.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as “tense” as flames danced perilously close to the health center, threatening to engulf the facility. However, the quick response from the Mapusa fire team, helmed by Shri Shetgaonkar, ensured the fire was brought under control before it could spread, preventing a major disaster.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but locals speculate it may have been triggered by careless disposal of a cigarette butt or a spark from nearby agricultural activities.
