“SAWANT LAUDS COMMUNITY SPIRIT AT TRIPURARI POURNIMA UTSAV”

Panaji, November 5: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant praised the community spirit and cultural heritage of Goa at the Tripurari Pournima Utsav held at Vithalapur, Sankhali, yesterday evening. The event, a showcase of traditional boat racing and cultural performances, was attended by MLA Premendra Vishnu Shet and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant highlighted the importance of preserving Goa’s rich cultural traditions and promoting community-led tourism. “Tripurari Pournima is not just a festival, it’s a celebration of our cultural continuity and community spirit,” he said.

The event featured a spectacular boat show, with intricately designed boats competing in the state-level competition. The festival is a joint initiative by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Department of Information and Publicity, Department of Tourism, and Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd., in collaboration with Deepawali Utsav Samiti and Shree Dev Vithal Panchayatan Devasthan.

The GTDC had organized a special tour for the festival, offering comfortable coach travel from Panaji and Mapusa residencies. The tour was priced at ₹150 per adult and ₹50 for children aged 6-12 years, with a 10% discount on room rates for guests staying at GTDC residencies ¹ ² ³.
