First-Ever Futsal Ground Inaugurated at Alto-Pilerne — A Milestone for Youth and Sports Development in Saligao Constituency
Pilerne, 24th October 2025:A proud day for the people of Pilerne and the entire Saligao Constituency as the first-ever Futsal Ground was inaugurated at Alto-Pilerne, marking a major step forward in promoting sports, fitness, and youth engagement at the grassroots level.
The Futsal turf was inaugurated at the hands of Hon’ble MLA & GSIDC Vice-Chairman Shri Kedar Naik, alongside Shri Dhaku Madkaikar (Adhyaksh, North Goa Zilla Panchayat), Dr. Ajay Gaude (CO, North Goa Zilla Panchayat), Shri Devendra Arlekar (AO, North Goa Zilla Panchayat), ZP Reis Magos Shri Sandeep Bandodkar, Sarpanch Smt. Reshma Bandodkar, Dy. Sarpanch Shri Ajay R. Govekar, and Panchayat Members — Shri Santosh Bandodkar, Shri Akshay Govekar, Smt. Ashwini Chodankar & Smt. Ankita Naik.
The inaugural event was also attended by several Sarpanchas, Dy. Sarpanchas, Panchayat Members from across the Saligao Constituency, Govt Officials and enthusiastic residents.
A special note of gratitude was extended to landlords Shri Augusto & Shri Aureo D’Souza and their family for granting the Panchayat NOC to develop this open space, paving the way for this remarkable sports facility.
Dy. Sarpanch Shri Ajay R. Govekar welcomed the dignitaries and expressed gratitude to all who made this project possible. He shared his joy that this long-awaited dream had come true, benefiting the youth of the ward and the village.
Hon’ble MLA Shri Kedar Naik, in his address, appreciated the joint efforts of the Panchayat and the Zilla Panchayat in completing the project in record time, stating:
I congratulate ZP Sandeep Bandodkar, the Panchayat team, and everyone involved in making this facility a reality for the people of Pilerne and our constituency.”
ZP Shri Sandeep Bandodkar also highlighted that this project was sanctioned and supported promptly after being requested, reaffirming his commitment to creating more youth-oriented facilities across the region.
Though VDC Convenor Shri Karan Govenkar could not attend the event as he was in Mumbai, he shared a message expressing pride in this achievement and gratitude to all who contributed. “This newly constructed Futsal Ground will motivate our youth to focus on fitness, sports, and teamwork rather than just spending time on gadgets.
The event also coincided with Pilerne Dy. Sarpanch Shri Ajay Raghunath Govekar’s birthday, adding a touch of celebration and joy to the day’s proceedings.
The Pilerne Panchayat reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting youth activities, sports infrastructure, and community welfare.
