Michael Lobo Launches Free Harvesting Service in Candolim, Farmers First in Line

CANDOLIM: In a move aimed at supporting the farming community, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo inaugurated the Free Combine Harvesting Machine Service in Candolim.The initiative, held in the presence of Village Panchayat Candolim Sarpanch Salvador Blaize Fernandes, Panchayat Ward Members, local farmers and residents, marks the continuation of an annual service that has become a lifeline for paddy cultivators in the area. The free service is designed to reduce harvesting costs, ease the physical effort of farming and encourage more youth to take up agriculture.

Speaking at the inauguration, Lobo reiterated his commitment to preserving traditional farming practices, keeping Candolim’s fields green and ensuring that agriculture continues to thrive for generations to come. The initiative was welcomed by local farmers, who said such support goes a long way in keeping the tradition of farming alive in an era of rising costs and urban pressure on agricultural land.
