From Waste to Green: Calangute’s Panchayat Model Wins State Recognition
CALANGUTE: In a proud moment for North Goa, the Village Panchayat of Calangute has been recognised for its commendable performance under the Net Positive Panchayat (NPP) Initiative and was felicitated with a Certificate of Appreciation. The honour was conferred at the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026 – Jansevak Mahakumbh / Sushasan Seva Samvad, organised by the Directorate of Panchayats, Government of Goa.
The NPP initiative promotes sustainable development, environmental conservation, effective governance, and community participation, encouraging Panchayats to create a positive impact on both people and the environment. This recognition is not just a certificate, it is a reflection of Calangute’s collective commitment towards building a more sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally responsible village, setting a benchmark for other Panchayats in the state.
