Mapusa Fish Market Top Floor May House Admin Offices; MLAs Inspect Site
MAPUSA: Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza on Monday conducted a joint inspection of the hall on the top floor of the Mapusa Fish Market along with GSIDC Chairman and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, to explore its feasibility for shifting key administrative offices.
The inspection follows a proposal mooted during the recent visit of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to Mapusa. The proposal to utilise the unutilised space atop the fish market complex for administrative purposes received an in-principle positive response from the Chief Minister. During today’s visit, GSIDC officials assessed the existing structure and estimated the works required to develop office infrastructure, including electrification, partitioning, and public access facilities.
The move aims to bring multiple administrative services under one roof for public convenience. Officials said the initiative will also pave the way for addressing larger infrastructure needs in Mapusa town, including parking management, cleanliness, pavers, lift facilities and beautification of the market area.
Present for the inspection were Deputy Collector Anant Malik, Mamlatdar Krishna Gaonkar, Administrator Chandrakant Shetkar, Chief Officer Kaushik Desai, along with government officials and GSIDC engineering staff.
