Rain Exposes Flaws in Porvorim Elevated Corridor; Khaunte Slams Faulty Engineering
PORVORIM: A sudden spell of sudden monsoon showers has exposed shoddy engineering work and haphazard finishing of the much-awaited Elevated Porvorim Flyover Corridor, which was left waterlogged after heavy rains.

Rainwater accumulated on the flyover stretch, refusing to drain, evaporate or get absorbed, raising serious questions about the design and drainage system of the corridor that was inaugurated in a hurry. Local MLA Rohan Khaunte expressed strong dissatisfaction and disappointment over the waterlogging on the elevated corridor following heavy rains that lashed the northern talukas.” Engineers need to apply their brains and consider ground realities,” Khaunte said, stressing that responsibility must be fixed for the lapses in design and maintenance.
The Minister also flagged poor traffic management and lack of lane discipline on the corridor, calling for immediate corrective measures by the Public Works Department (PWD) and other concerned officials to prevent inconvenience to commuters.
