Bicholim Witnesses Major Transport Infrastructure Upgrade with Inauguration of Redeveloped KTC Bus Stand

“The Redeveloped KTC Bus Stand Will Make Everyday Travel Safer and More Convenient,” Says CM Dr. Pramod Sawant

Bicholim, September 8, 2026: A major boost to public transport infrastructure in Bicholim was marked today with the inauguration and dedication of the redeveloped KTC Bus Stand to the people. Built with an investment of ₹16.43 crore, the modern facility has been developed to make everyday travel safer, smoother and more convenient for commuters, while providing improved amenities and facilities for transport staff.

The redeveloped bus stand features separate pedestrian and vehicular movement, barrier-free access, CCTV surveillance, dedicated parking and public conveniences, along with 11 shops, a café and ATM space. The facility also provides eight alighting and departing bus bays and four waiting bays, while dedicated spaces have been created for taxis, autorickshaws, two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Upgraded facilities for transport personnel, including RTO offices, the Office of the Assistant Director of Transport, meeting and training rooms and dedicated restrooms, have also been incorporated.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “The redevelopment of the KTC Bus Stand at Bicholim is an important step towards providing people with safer, smoother and more convenient public transport infrastructure. Such people-centric projects improve everyday life and strengthen our journey towards a Viksit Goa.” He congratulated the people of Bicholim and all those associated with the project.

The project was executed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for the Directorate of Transport, with the facility developed to bring essential transport services and commuter amenities together in a modern, accessible and well-organised space.

The programme was attended by Shri Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Transport, Industries, Panchayat Raj, Protocol and Legislative Affairs; Shri Michael Lobo, MLA, Calangute Constituency and Chairman, GSIDC Ltd.; Dr. Chandrakant P. Shetye, MLA, Bicholim Constituency; Shri Premendra Shet, MLA, Mayem Constituency; and Shri Ulhas Y. Tuenkar, MLA, Navelim Constituency and Chairman, Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited, along with senior officials and other dignitaries.
