Goa defeats Himachal second time

Panaji: Goa made an impressive performance in the CAP U-19 Men’s Inter-State One-Day Tournament (Siechem Trophy 2026) with a convincing six-wicket victory over Himachal Pradesh at Siechem CAP Ground 2 in Puducherry on Tuesday. This was Goa Second win against Himachal and third overall in this tournament. Chasing a target of 218, Goa reached 221/4 in 40.2 overs after a composed batting display led by Aaditya Kota and Vinit Kamat.

After electing to field, Goa’s bowlers produced a disciplined performance to dismiss Himachal Pradesh for 217 in 41.3 overs. Mihir Kudalkar starred with the ball, claiming four wickets for just 35 runs in his 10-over spell. Govind Sawal provided excellent support, finishing with figures of 3/30, while Aaditya Kota chipped in with two wickets.

Himachal Pradesh recovered from early setbacks through a fighting half-century by Aditya Kataria, who scored 52 off 53 balls with eight boundaries. Captain Naunihaal remained unbeaten on 48, but regular wickets prevented the team from building a substantial total.

Goa’s chase was anchored by opener Aaditya Kota, who narrowly missed out on a century after scoring a superb 95 off 106 deliveries, including 13 fours and two sixes. He shared a match-winning opening partnership of 147 runs with Vinit Kamat, who contributed a fluent 66 from 80 balls, striking 11 boundaries.

Although Goa lost a few quick wickets towards the end, Mohit Yadav (15 not out) and Afridsab Rajakkanvar (13 not out) calmly guided the side home with 58 balls to spare. Kota’s all-round contribution of 95 runs and two wickets, along with Kudalkar’s four-wicket haul, proved decisive as Goa secured a confident victory in the tournament.
