Pilot Edition of ‘Total Chess World Championship Tour’ to be Held in Budapest, Hungary
New Delhi: (July 21) The official pilot edition of the ‘Total Chess World Championship Tour,’ sanctioned by FIDE (International Chess Federation), will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from November 10 to 21.
Conceived by ‘Norway Chess’ and endorsed by FIDE, the tournament will feature three formats: ‘Fast Classic,’ ‘Rapid,’ and ‘Blitz.’ The ultimate winner will be determined based on the combined results across these three formats.
This event in Budapest will serve as a pilot phase for the championship format set to launch globally in 2027. The inaugural season, commencing in March 2027, will comprise multiple tournaments across various host cities, culminating in the crowning of the ‘FIDE World Combined Champion.’
