Centre and States Come Together in Panaji to Resolve Road Project Bottlenecks
PANAJI: India’s roadmap for building resilient and future-ready road infrastructure took center stage as Shri V.K. Rajawat, DG (RD) & SS, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) chaired a high-level meeting with senior state officials during the 237th Mid-Term Council Meeting of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) in Panaji.The meeting brought together Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Engineers-in-Chief, and Chief Engineers from across states and UTs. The forum provided an opportunity to review the progress of National Highways and state road projects, address key implementation challenges, and ensure alignment between state priorities and national goals. In his address, Shri Rajawat stressed the need for accelerated project execution, adoption of new technologies, and strict adherence to quality and safety norms. He noted that with rising traffic and freight movement, India requires road networks that are sustainable, safe, and capable of supporting long-term economic growth.t he deliberations also focused on promoting green and sustainable construction practices, strengthening road safety measures to reduce accident hotspots, and enhancing capacity building for engineers to meet the demands of modern highway development.


States also used the platform to share best practices and discuss issues related to land acquisition, environmental clearances, funding, and inter-state coordination for seamless connectivity.
Officials observed that the discussions will help in streamlining policy implementation and ensuring uniform standards in the design, construction, and maintenance of roads across the country. T
