One held with 37 kg of smuggled gold in Guwahati: Assam Police

GUWAHATI: (Jun 30) A suspected international gold smuggling network has been busted in Guwahati by Assam Police and one held with over 37 kg of gold worth Rs 54 crore, in the largest such haul by the force, an official statement said on Tuesday.

It said smuggling links to the Middle East and Myanmar with domestic network across different cities, have been revealed, with further investigation on.

The Assam Police statement said a raid was carried out in Kharghuli area of the city on June 29-30, leading to the seizure and arrest.
