On World Environment Day, Panaji Youth Hostel gets greener as My Bharat, Forest Dept & Caring Souls Goa plant trees, clear litter!
Panaji, June 5, 2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day, My Bharat, the Forest Department of Goa, Wildlife & Eco- Tourism, North Division, and Caring Souls Goa jointly organised a tree plantation and cleanliness drive at Youth Hostel, Miramar, Panaji.
Youth members along with representatives from all three organisations actively participated in the initiative. Saplings of various medicinal plants were planted across the Youth Hostel premises, located close to the Mandovi. The teams also conducted a cleanliness drive, clearing litter and restoring the area around the hostel. 
The plantation and cleanliness drive was attended by Shri Gaurav Singh Raghav, Director UT Goa, Samyek Meshram, District Youth Officer, My Bharat North & South Goa, Abisha Fernandes, Secretary, Caring Souls Goa, Faizan Saifi, Joint Secretary, Caring Souls Goa, Sandesh Patre, Member, Caring Souls Goa, and officers from the Forest Department of Goa, along with several youth members from My Bharat and Caring Souls Goa.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Gaurav Singh Raghav Director UT Goa said “The true spirit of World Environment Day lies not in words, but in action. Let’s pledge to protect what protects us — our air, our water, our land. Small steps today, a sustainable tomorrow.”
Abisha Fernandes, Secretary- Caring Souls Goa said, _“It is our collective responsibility to take care of Mother Earth. World Environment Day is not just a one-day event — our real duty begins after the celebrations end. We must nurture and protect the plants we’ve planted today so they grow into a greener tomorrow.”
Faizan Saifi, Joint Secretary, Caring Souls said “Our responsibility towards the environment doesn’t start tomorrow — it starts today. Every small action we take, every tree we plant, and every plastic we refuse adds up. Let’s make today the beginning of a greener future.”
The organisers emphasized that sustaining the environment requires continuous effort and urged citizens to adopt eco-friendly practices in daily life. The drive concluded with a pledge by all participants to care for the saplings and keep public spaces clean.
