Manipal Hospital Goa marks World Environment Day with plantation drive
PANAJI: Demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare, Manipal Hospital Goa organized a plantation drive on the occasion of World Environment Day on Thursday.
The initiative was coordinated by Mr. Subhash Naik, Head of Engineering at Manipal Hospital Goa, and witnessed active participation from the hospital’s management, Heads of Departments (HODs), doctors and staff members.
As part of the drive, the hospital received 100 saplings from the Principal of the Forest Training School, Valpoi, Sattari, Goa. Several saplings were planted within the hospital premises to enhance the green cover and promote a healthier environment, while the remaining saplings were distributed to patients and visitors to encourage tree plantation and environmental awareness across the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Senior Consultant – Surgical Oncology, Manipal Hospital, Goa, emphasized the importance of preserving nature and adopting sustainable practices to ensure a healthier future for generations to come.
Dr. Amol Mahaldar, Lead Consultant – Nephrology and Transplant Physician, Manipal Hospital, Goa, highlighted the close connection between environmental health and human well-being, stressing that small individual efforts can collectively make a significant impact on protecting the planet.
The plantation drive served as a reminder of the shared responsibility of individuals and institutions in conserving natural resources and promoting ecological balance. The event also reflected Manipal Hospital Goa’s continued commitment to initiatives that contribute to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
All Heads of Departments and staff members participated in the programme, making the World Environment Day observance a meaningful and collaborative effort towards a greener tomorrow.
