CM Pramod Sawant Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Multipurpose Sports Hall at Socorro, Porvorim
Porvorim: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Monday inaugurated a new Multipurpose Sports Hall at Socorro, Porvorim, calling it a modern sports and recreational facility aimed at promoting fitness and sporting talent across Goa.
The facility, built with state-of-the-art infrastructure, is expected to serve athletes, students and residents for indoor games, training and community events.Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Calangute MLA & GSIDC Chairman Michael Lobo, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to strengthening sports infrastructure at the grassroots level. He added that such facilities will help Goan youth train year-round, reduce dependence on outdoor grounds during monsoon, and nurture future national and international players.
GSIDC Chairman Michael Lobo said the hall is designed to host multiple indoor disciplines under one roof, making it accessible for schools, clubs and local associations.The multipurpose hall adds to the state’s push to position Goa as a hub for sports and fitness, in line with the government’s broader focus on youth development.
