Margao ESI Medical College to be Fast-Tracked, Assures Union Minister Mandaviya in Meet with CM Sawant
panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant called on Union Minister for Labour & Employment, Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss pending projects in Goa.During the meeting, Dr. Mandaviya assured the Chief Minister that the commissioning of the new ESI Medical College in Margao would be expedited. The medical college, under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, is set to augment healthcare services and medical education infrastructure in South Goa.
“The Union Minister has given a positive response and assured full support to complete the Margao ESI Medical College at the earliest,”
Dr. Sawant said after the interaction.The proposed college is expected to add MBBS seats for the state and provide dedicated healthcare facilities for ESIC beneficiaries.
It will also help reduce the burden on Goa Medical College and District Hospitals. Officials said both the Centre and the State are working in coordination to clear remaining hurdles and operationalize the facility. Once commissioned, the college is likely to generate employment opportunities for medical and paramedical staff in the region.
