Panchayat Minister Godinho Inaugurates New Public Toilet Block Near Shantinagar Bridge,
Vasco: Panchayat Minister Shri. Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday inaugurated a newly constructed public toilet block near Shantinagar Bridge, New Vaddem, addressing a long‑standing civic demand in the area.The facility has been built by the local Village Panchayat under infrastructure development funds and aims to serve residents, shopkeepers, and daily commuters along the busy Shantinagar–New Vaddem stretch.
The location sees heavy footfall due to nearby markets, residential pockets, and key arterial roads connecting to Vasco city.Speaking after the inauguration, Minister Godinho said sanitation infrastructure remains a priority for panchayat areas witnessing rapid urbanization. “Access to clean and safe public toilets is a basic need, especially for women, senior citizens, and commuters. This block will ease daily hardships and improve hygiene standards in the locality,” he noted
.The new toilet block includes separate units for men and women, running water supply, and proper lighting. Panchayat officials said maintenance arrangements have been put in place to ensure the facility remains clean and functional.
Local residents and panch members who attended the function welcomed the move, pointing out that the absence of public toilets near Shantinagar Bridge had been a concern for years.
The area often sees people gathering for bus stops and market activity, making the facility timely. The Minister also interacted with panchayat officials and directed them to monitor upkeep regularly. The inauguration is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen civic amenities across Vasco’s panchayat areas, with emphasis on sanitation, waste management, and public convenience.
