Tree Fall incidents in Akoi Karaswada; keep fire services on their toes
MAPUSA, May 23, 2026 — Two tree-related incidents were reported from Akoi Karaswada on Thursday, prompting response from local authorities. No injuries were reported.
In the first incident, a tree fell at the entrance of a residential building, “Braganza Apartment”, located near Nichani Lobo House, Panaji. The fallen tree partially blocked access to the premises. Residents informed local officials who inspected the site.
In a separate case from the same locality, a large branch was found precariously hanging over a telephone line, posing a risk of disruption and damage. Authorities were alerted to prevent the branch from snapping during high winds.
Disaster management teams and panchayat officials took note of both incidents. Clearance work and preventive action were initiated under the supervision of the concerned field officer.Officials said pre-monsoon winds have increased the risk of tree and branch falls across Bardez. Residents have been advised to report dangerous trees or overhanging branches to the control room at 112. The District Disaster Management Authority has directed panchayats to conduct quick inspections of vulnerable trees near houses, roads, and power lines.
