CURCHOREM-CACORA CENSUS TEAM BEGINS FIELD SURVEY AT CACORA INDUSTRIAL ESTATE

CURCHOREM: The preparatory groundwork for Census 2027 gained momentum in South Goa as the Charge Officer of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council visited the Cacora Industrial Estate on Friday to oversee enumeration activities.Accompanied by the designated Enumerator and Supervisor, the Charge Officer conducted a detailed field inspection to review mapping, house-listing protocols, and ensure coverage of all units within the industrial zone.The visit focused on sensitizing staff to the unique challenges of enumerating industrial areas, where establishments often have migrant workforce, temporary housing, and shift-based occupancy. Officials stressed on accurate data capture of both residential quarters and commercial units, noting that industrial estates are critical for reflecting demographic and economic shifts in the region.Census teams will use digital tools and GIS-based maps during the exercise, with special emphasis on avoiding duplication and omission.

The exercise forms part of the pre-test and house-listing phase ahead of the full-scale Census 2027

.Officials said the early field visits are aimed at ironing out logistical gaps and training enumerators before operations scale up across Curchorem-Cacora. Further visits to other wards and rural pockets are scheduled in the coming weeks.
