MLA INSPECTS MAPUSA BUS STAND, SUB YARD; ROAD IMPROVEMENT TO BEGIN SOON

MAPUSA: Deputy Speaker and Mapusa MLA Joshua De Souza on Wednesday inspected the Mapusa Bus Stand and Sub Yard, where road improvement works are set to begin soon.De Souza reviewed on-site preparations with officials, stressing coordinated execution to minimize disruption to commuters and state transport operations. The inspection covered key internal roads within the bus stand premises and the adjacent Sub Yard, both of which see heavy bus and passenger traffic daily.Officials said milling will be taken up wherever required before hotmixing, with the major focus on laying fresh hotmix to ensure smooth, durable road surfaces.

The upgrade aims to improve riding quality, reduce wear on buses, and ease overall traffic movement in and out of the busy transport hub.The work will ensure better connectivity and safer conditions for commuters, bus operators, and pedestrians,” De Souza said after the inspection. He directed departments to maintain quality and adhere to timelines once work begins.

The Mapusa Bus Stand is one of North Goa’s busiest transit points, handling hundreds of interstate and local buses daily. Uneven surfaces and potholes have been a long-standing complaint, especially ahead of the monsoon.
